What I Learned Over The Weekend.

Just going straight to the list….

1.  I am a people pleaser….to the point of being a push over.  This really sucks.  I got myself into two binds because of this over the weekend and now I am spending today feeling guilty and crabby.  And I may have hurt a friends feelings.  

2.  My husband is really classy.  We went to a wine tasting and tour at Summerset Winery on Sunday.  It was a great afternoon and I forgot how fun day dates can be….especially when they involve wine.  We tried lots of wine but settled on buying a bottle of their Mostavo which was their version of a Moscato.  So yummy….


3.  I talk too much.  I need to work on being a better listener.

4.  I have very little motivation to stick with any type of healthy eating challenge I set for myself.  As soon as the weekend comes along….all those “I can do this!” feelings go out the window.

5.  I like blogging….or I like the idea of being a famous blogger I guess.  I need to get my crap together to make it happen…and learn to write better.  🙂

Toddler Tuesday-We Hate Winter

Hey y’all.

I am sure you all know about the Polar Vortex.  It sucks.  I am getting so crabby about the cold weather, being stuck inside and shivering.  There were a couple of days earlier this year where it was 30 degrees or warmer and it was wonderful.  Let’s go back to those warm days so we can do fun stuff like puddle jumping and sliding.

Changing It Up

I am just going to swoop back in here and pretend it hasn’t been over a month since I have last blogged.  🙂

I am sure I have mentioned it on here before but I have a huge obsession for collecting recipes online, pinning them on my Pinterest boards, and buying cook books.   You would think that someone with this many resources would be able to come up with a meal plan that didn’t have tacos and spaghetti on it every week.  Now we love tacos and spaghetti but come on!

I decided to make sure I try at least one new recipe a week that I could get the family involved by letting them pick from 3 recipes.  We vote, and I cook!  If we all love it then I keep the recipe.  If we are not all on board….I can toss it!


Now everyone can be involved, we are trying new things and I can hopefully soon get all these ripped out magazine pages and computer print offs organized.

Finally!  The first Monday of 2014 and now I can officially buckle down.

As you all know from my past posts I love goal setting.  I love list making.  I don’t love follow through.  🙂

This year I am doing things differently.  I am setting themes for different areas of my life and hoping that I can set attainable goals within that theme as I progress through the year.  While I am still trying to set up a game plan of the details I do have my themes picked out and I want to share them with you today.


Crossfit, Healthy Lifestyle=PUSH

Last fall after Crossfit Primal had us participate in a challenge (my partner and I got 3rd place by the way!!!  Way to go Sue!!!) I really took my workouts seriously and got in the habit of going to work out at least 4 times a week.  I actually looked forward to my workouts because I could see the positive changes in my body and of course want to continue seeing that!

Now I just need to push myself.  Stop taking so many breaks during the WOD, challenge myself with more weight, etc.  It will be interesting to see the changes that will happen when I do that!  🙂



I try not to mention my Slumber Parties business on here too much.  I just don’t want to seem pushy and obviously the blog is health centered.  While sexual health is important, it isn’t something I want to focus on here….for now anyway.  🙂  But I struggle with staying organized and consistent in my business and tend to make it harder for myself than I should.

This is going to be probably the biggest and hardest change that I need to make in my life and lots of boring details.  I won’t bore you, just know that I am going to simplify my systems and make it easier for me to run my biz like a biz.


Personal (mamahood, marriage, friendships, spirituality)=BE PRESENT

As a crazy, unorganized mama-I am all over the place.  I have a million things on my mind, I have a ton of friends on facebook, I have a bunch of shows I am addicted to, the list goes on.  I don’t tend to be present with what I am doing at any given moment.

Not fair to Baby Belle, not fair to the hubby, not fair to my friends, not fair to God.

This will be a work in process but keeping my phone in my purse until Baby Belle goes to bed is starting today.  🙂



I won’t go into details about our finances.  Just know we are not happy with them.  We will be taking care of our money situation a lot better this year by communicating often and focusing on the life we want to have in the very near future.


So as I get my head around all of this I will be sharing my game plan.

Day 1 Complete

Hey friends.  I did it.  Day 1 is done.

It wasn’t hard but it sure was easy to complain about it anyway.  Isn’t it funny that when you deprive yourself of certain things that it seems to be the only thing you need to satisfy a craving.  Yesterday…it was cheese.  I would have chopped off my pinky finger for a string cheese.  But I didn’t.


So lets start with the workout yesterday.  Primal always posts the WOD the night before on their facebook page.



Warm up: 4 minute
Jump rope Tabata (DU/single)

Strength: 1 RM push press (5-5-2-2-1-1-1-1) I started with the 35# bar and ended the last rep with 55#.  My 1 rep max is 60# but I hardly worked out last week and wasn’t feeling it after coming back.

WOD: 12 minutes AMRAP I did 4 rounds and 11 box jumps.  I really struggled with the pull ups.  Even with the band I only did 5 in a row the first round and then had to break it down.  I NEED TO TRY HARDER!
8 ab mat
12 box jump
15 kb swings
5 chest to bar

This was my failed attempt at a protein pancake.  I just ended up scrambling it and topping it with almond butter.  The scramble consisted of one banana, two eggs, about 2 tbsp almond meal and some hemp protein powder.  I had coffee with a bit of coconut milk in it.  Not the best…thinking I may give up coffee too but not sure yet.

Snack: I ended up having this about an hour before my lunch.  I am a snacker and trying to cut it out but it is mostly out of bored habit.

Just a small amount of nuts and dried fruit.  I checked the label for added sugar and was good to go.  All the while I am chugging water….trying to drink a gallon a day.  Mostly just because Janetha does it and I think she is cool.  Plus I know I don’t get enough as it is and it is a fun game to play with myself.


photo (14)Green beans and a scramble made with spaghetti squash, mushrooms, onions, chicken and salsa verde.  I bought avocado to get some healthy fats in but it wasn’t ripe enough and it was still too hard.

Afternoon snack:

photo (9)A pretty small apple and just one Nick Stick.  I loved Slim Jims….and I am sure the folks at Wallace Farms are cringing as I admit that.  Nick Sticks are an AWESOME alternative and aren’t filled with what I am sure is pretty disgusting stuff.  I will never again “Snap into a Slim Jim!”



photo (10)This was disgusting.  My pork chop was a bit on the dry side.  My 1/2 sweet potato was good and covered in coconut oil and cinnamon.  That sorry salad was mostly thrown in the garbage.  Chopped lettuce, cabbage and kale topped with roasted balsamic veggies and then covered in Franks Hot Sauce.  Inventive?  Yes . Tasty?  Hell no!

Night Snack:

photo (13)I needed something sweet.  I had raspberries, coconut flakes, almond slices and chia seeds with a bit of unsweetened almond milk.  Washed it down with tea with a bit of coconut oil and coconut milk.

So that is it….I did pretty well.  Just hope that in the coming days I can prepare a bit better.  I don’t want to get stuck with another weird salad that I can’t eat.  🙂

Whole 30-I Am Obsessing About It

We had our half way point measurements done for our Primal challenge.  I totally lost 6 pounds and 6% body fat!  EEEEEEK!  So excited 🙂
